Is The Emotions Journal Worth It? I Tried it, and Here's My Honest Review

08/08/2023 - By Heather R. First published at lifed.org

Summary: Can the Emotions Journal be the key to unlocking a more fulfilling life? Countless glowing reviews say it can... and I put it to the test.

The Emotions Journal is taking the self-care world by storm, with everyone from influencers to mental health experts raving about its benefits.

Celebrities like Emma Watson, Chrissy Teigen, and Selena Gomez swear by therapy and journaling for their mental health, but journaling with the guidance of a therapist by your side can cost thousands of dollars per month.

The Emotions Journal is a new solution that uses the same science backed strategies as you’ll find at a therapist's office.

According to literally thousands of reviews, the people who use The Emotions Journal rave about its seemingly magical ability to transform their lives by rewiring their brain for emotional awareness… and all just by using it for 10 minutes daily.

Those are some big claims to make, but at the age of 47, I’m happy to give anything a try – especially when it comes with a money back guarantee. I did try The Emotions Journal for one month, and I will share with you my brutally honest review about it, and I think some parts might surprise you.

Before I get into my review, let me explain exactly what the Emotions Journal is.

What is The Emotions Journal?

How does it work?

The Emotions Journal uses a combination of psychoeducational strategies to enrich your relationships, control your emotions and boost your self-awareness.

The journal references the work of over 40 experts in the field of Psychology and behavioral therapy.

Let me tell you - you can literally feel the effort and care that went into making this journal, they did not cut corners or use cheap paper either. Almost immediately I noticed a big difference over other journals or workbooks.

It’s entirely up to you how often you decide to journal for, but to see the biggest difference you’ll want to build a consistent habit. I used The Emotions Journal for 10 minutes per day.

According to the users, you start seeing results within the first week, and of course, after learning all of this, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one!

I tried The Emotions Journal for 3 weeks, and this is my brutally honest review (some of it might surprise you!)

I have been struggling with low self-esteem and anxiety since I was a teen. I am terrible at expressing my needs. And to be honest, I end up feeling frustrated with my relationships because of it..

When I started using The Emotions Journal, it was perfect timing. I had just taken on a new job with more management responsibility, and I knew that if I wanted to succeed, I needed to work on understanding my emotional needs, and the needs of those around me.

I was determined to make a change and the Emotions Journal seemed like the perfect tool.

I had tried yoga, meditation, and even read books on psychology before, but nothing seemed to stick. I needed a way to reprogram my brain to better understand my emotions that were controlling my life. The Emotions Journal promised to guide me through the process and help me find true emotional awareness, and I was ready to give it a try.

I did what others do and journaled for 10 minutes per day. This is what happened.

Package Arrives

The Emotions Journal arrived early within 4 days (yay!). The packaging was really great! It came in a beautiful custom white box with a bookmark. They had a BOGO deal at the time so I also got one of their other journals for free. I was surprised that they both came individually boxed, based on the packaging alone they would make for great gifts!

Immediately after I took the journal out of the box I was impressed with how the paper felt and the quality of the design. I especially like the ring binding so that the journal can lay flat while I’m writing. After ordering online I half expected to receive cheaply made products, but this was designed by experts and it shows.

Day 1

My first day using The Emotions Journal was all about the importance of intention setting for this new journey. I've set intentions before, but I decided to put on the guided video to see what that was like. And oh my gosh… the journal alone is different from anything I’ve seen, but paired with the video it was a completely new experience.

The therapist (Hailey K.) had an incredibly calm presence and it was like a guided meditation. In the past, journaling felt like an isolated experience, but this really felt like I had somebody holding my hand through the process.

Day 7

After a whole week of emotional regulation (the whats, hows, whens & whys), I have to say, I'm loving it. I felt like I was making progress, for example, last week I felt confused about what I was feeling.

But after the first week, I felt like I could label what I was feeling and not just the basic happy, sad, mad..but using the strategies in the journal, I could identify my exact emotions. It was so eye opening to know exactly how I was feeling, It helped me better identify my triggers too.

Of course, there were still tough moments. For instance, that morning my partner and I got into an argument. But I was able to stop and help us both communicated what we were feeling, and address the core issue - instead of spiraling like we used to.

Before, arguments would have upset me for the entire day. It was empowering to feel like I had more control over my thoughts and emotions.

Day 14

After two weeks of using The Emotions Journal, something really powerful happened while I was writing in it. I had this moment of clarity that made me feel loved and content with who I am in a really deep way.

It's like all the journaling I'd been doing to try to understand my emotions and self-awareness was actually working. And the coolest part? I didn't just know it intellectually – I felt it in my gut.

For the first time in my life, I caught a glimpse of what it truly means to feel emotionally aware of myself, not frustrated with my feelings.

It was like this overwhelming sense of peace and acceptance washed over me. And I gotta be honest – I cried. I cried because I had never felt that kind of peace and love for myself before.

There were no strings attached, no conditions, no doubts – just pure love and acceptance. And in that moment, I knew that I deserved it, just like everyone else does.

It's hard to explain, but that moment was a turning point for me.

Day 21

I have to tell you, The Emotions Journal has been a complete game-changer for me. I honestly wish I had found it sooner, but I'm just grateful that I decided to start this journey when I did.

The guided videos are fantastic, and I love how they enhance the journaling experience. But sometimes, I just prefer to sit with a cup of tea and journal in the morning by myself. It's become such a comforting and peaceful ritual for me, and it's really helped me to feel more comfortable with my thoughts when alone.

The biggest change I've noticed is how I'm finally starting to understand myself better. I used to be so hard on myself, always striving for perfection and feeling like I wasn't enough. But now, I'm learning to embrace my emotions and to be kinder to myself. It's amazing how just a few weeks of consistent journaling can completely shift your mindset.

And it's not just how I see myself – it's how I see others, too. I used to have a bit of a short fuse (a bad habit I now know I inherited from my mother), but now I can experience my emotions without letting them overwhelm me.

We all have different emotional needs, and that's okay. It's made me more compassionate and understanding, and it's been really rewarding to see how that's changed my interactions with others.

I'm also noticing a big difference in how I handle stress and uncertainty. I used to feel like I was constantly running around like a chicken with its head cut off, but now I'm finding more clarity and calm. It's not always easy, but I'm learning to trust myself and to take things one step at a time.

Overall, I can't recommend The Emotions Journal enough. It's been such a powerful tool for me, and I'm excited to see where it takes me next.

Is The Emotions Journal legit?

I confess - I didn’t stop using The Emotions Journal after my 3 week experiment - but who would!

It’s true that getting into a new habit or routine of journaling is hard at first. Big changes in the way your mind works can’t happen overnight. If anyone says The Emotions Journal is a waste of money, I’d say they just weren’t willing to do the hard self-reflection needed to see a change.

My struggles with my emotional dysregulation diminished to practically nothing, and my future feels so much brighter and full of opportunity. Even my friends have noticed my a difference and I told them I was using the journal (of course they’re all using it now, too).

On top of all that, The Emotions Journal is super affordable, especially compared to expensive workshops, video courses, and one on one sessions.

How much does The Emotions Journal cost?

It's amazing how much a little self-reflection can change your life, but the cost of therapy or other self-improvement tools can be a major barrier for many people. A typical therapy session can cost hundreds of dollars, and a video workshop can cost $400 or more.

That's why I'm so impressed with The Emotions Journal - for less than $50, you get 64 days of guided journaling and over 16 hours of video guidance using the same proven strategies, at a fraction of the cost. It's an accessible and affordable option for anyone who wants to deepen their self-love practice without breaking the bank.

Where can you get the Emotions Journal?

When buying anything online it’s good to do your due diligence first. There are many knockoff versions and copycats available on Amazon and other websites, but these journals may not be backed by scientific research and may not provide the same benefits as the authentic product.

I strongly recommend purchasing The Emotions Journal directly from the official website to ensure that you receive a high-quality product that has been University tested and proven to help users develop self-love and end negative self-talk.

By purchasing from the official website, you can also take advantage of their money-back guarantee if you are not satisfied with the journal. Don't risk your emotions journey with an imitation product - invest in the real thing and experience the transformative power of The Emotions Journal for yourself.
