What Is Self-Care?
At Switch Journals, we think self-care shouldn't be a definition BUT it should mean whatever type of care you need at any given time.
If a bubble bath, a glass of wine, or a pint of ice cream is what you need...then that is what you should seek out. There is nothing wrong with that! If curling up watching movies all day sounds like what you need...then GO FOR IT!
But, on the other hand, if you are needing to learn how to manage anxiety, manage stress, or deal with heartache then we believe that is the self-care YOU deserve.
So to simplify this we believe that first and foremost self-care should be personal and personalized to you. It should be unique to you, it's definitely not a one-size-fits-all situation. Just like going to the doctor doesn’t result in us coming out with identical prescriptions, self-care shouldn’t be the same for each of us.
Here are some ideas...but again this is personal to YOU:
1. Going to a therapist
2. Reading a book
3. Go for a walk
4. Get your nails done
5. Go for lunch w/ a friend
6. Watch your favourite movie
